That said, charges of dilettantism would seem entirely out of order here, as all four members of the group seem entirely committed to their hard-edged sound. Stylistically, though the band itself cites such influences as Pink Floyd (whose latter-day producer Bob Ezrin is at work here) and the Cure, the more obvious reference points are Nine Inch Nails and perhaps Tool. Thick layers of aggressive guitar and booming drums alternate with dark, moody, synth-laced passages while Leto's vocals range from full-on roar to feral growl. PREVIEW :
